Idol group U-KISS recently paid a
visit to Cambodia along with an NGO volunteer organization.
The boys landed at the Phnom Penh
airport past at midnight, but the airport was jam-packed with fans who wanted
to get a glimpse of their favorite Hallyu star.
Cambodia is an area that is just
beginning to catch a few waves of Hallyu, and fan bases are beginning to form
very naturally.
Being the first K-Pop act to visit
Cambodia, the media outlets were scrambling to get their fix of the U-KISS
boys. While the members were there, there were constantly long lines of
reporters waiting for them day after day, and reports related to U-KISS were
released and broadcasted ceaselessly. Furthermore, the Cambodian Prime Minister
Hun Sen along with his family were also out on site, proving U-KISS’ explosive
fame in the local area.
At the fan meeting that was held on
a Cambodian national holiday (June 18th), 5,000 audience members filled the
venue and a few hundred Cambodian members of U-KISS’ fanclub ‘KISSME‘ were also
present.
In related news, U-KISS who is
currently promoting new title song “Believe” will be returning to Korea and
focus on Korean promotions until the end of the month. Starting in July, the
boys will officially launch their 9-city Japan Tour.
